PASTOR TOM'S PAGE
Welcome to God’s Place and may He bless you as you have made time to come together to worship and glorify Jesus, our Lord and Saviour. It is always a pleasure to join with people who love God and love to celebrate Him.
Over the month of June we intentionally took time to bring teaching that would BUILD and STRENGTHEN us so we can really step up and into our Mission ... “to carry the life and hope of Jesus everywhere we go” ...
When we think of that word “MISSION” ... we must not minimise it to an overseas adventure into some impoverished nation or to a place in another country where we cannot speak their language.
The heart of the word Mission is to find out who we are and then give it away in submission to the Primary Mission God has right where we are now. What is the Primary Mission, you may ask ...?
1 JOHN 3:8 (NKJV) For this purpose the Son of God was manifested,
that He might destroy the works of the devil.
Everything we do is to bring Glory of God, to bring the Earth back into the Kingdom of God. How do we do that? By destroying the works of the Devil any way we can. The best way is to operate in completely the opposite manner to the Devil. The Devil’s Primary Mission is described in JOHN 10:10 ... “to steal, kill and destroy” ...our response is the same as Jesus’ ... “to bring life and that more abundantly”.
MATTHEW 10:7-8 (NKJV) And as you go (co-labour), preach, saying,
‘The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead,
cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.
The enterprise of Mission is a personal one; every Believer is a Soul-winner; every Minister (that’s all of us) holds office under the Great Commission (Matthew 28); the Mission Enterprise is the work of not merely all, but of EACH!
ZECHARIAH 4:6 (NCV) Then he told me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel:
‘You will not succeed by your own strength or power, but by my Spirit,’
says the Lord All-Powerful.
Clearly, we cannot be successful in this if we only depend on our own strength or plans. It is not wrong to have an expectancy on God, that He would move on our behalf as we step out in obedience to His call ... but He is a big God and we only think in Human Earthly dimensions.
LET’S MAKE GOD’S OMNIPOTENCE THE MEASURE OF OUR EXPECTATION!
The tiniest detail in which I obey has all the omnipotent power of the Grace of God behind it!
If I do my duty, not for duty’s sake, but because I believe God is overseeing my obedience and orchestrating the Mission, then every point of my obedience releases the whole superb Grace of God and that power is mine through His Atoning Love ... AND HE WILL BE GLORIFIED!
You are a people loved by and called by God for a Great Mission. It is a wonderful privilege to serve with you.
We love you LOTS! Tom & Suzanne
