I have been considering a number of things over the last month … and each of them all point towards being in a much closer place with God than I have ever been before and consequently being far more effective for Him.
Now I am by nature an optimist and will generally lean towards the positive and expect a great outcome; but I realise that not everyone is wired the same way as I am. The most common descriptive difference between optimists and others is the phrase:
Is your glass half full – or half empty?
I was challenged recently on the “Glass Full” thing. Here is the challenge:
A glass of water is not really full until it overflows!!
When you think about the promises that God gives us in John 10:10 “… I have come that you may have life and that more abundantly” … and then in … John 7:38 “…He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water” (NKJV)…
We can take the idea of a glass being full when it overflows into our personal lives too. The fullness of the Spirit in our lives is measured by the overflow of the Spirit through us in order to touch the world around us.
How do we see this in action? Well if there is an overflow of the Spirit from us then the clearest things to be seen are the Fruits of the Spirit. What are they … they are listed in Galatians 5:22-23.
Here’s the point:
THE KINGDOM OF GOD MUST NEVER BE REDUCED TO TALK,
IDEAS AND PRINCIPLES.
THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS POWER AND THAT DEMONSTRATED.
The ways of God are discovered through the acts of God.
Many in the world will not see an act of God except through US … you and me!! So we need to draw near to God … and He will draw near to us … and then His power will flow from a “FULL GLASS”!!
Be encouraged today and be a full glass for God. Overflow His Spirit, carry the Life and Hope of Jesus everywhere you go!! It will change our lives (yours, mine and all those we associate with)!!
