MISSIONS
Missions
has been a foundation stone of Blenheim Elim for at least 25 years.
Over these years personnel from this church have served in P N G, Thailand, Australia, Fiji, Asia, Senegal and Japan. Some have been
Short Term Missions, others long term. Some of the STM trips have been into
Philipines, India, Fiji, P.N.G, Nepal and Africa.
Currently, we have two full time missionaries out on the frontline.
Liz Hutton
Liz Hutton has been in PNG for 20 years, involved in children's ministry.
It has been a remarkable journey for Liz with over 200 students
graduating from Salem bible school and going out to pass on their
knowledge and skills elsewhere.
Liz is currently working on a vision she received about 4-5 years
ago to see a new training school built on their own land. Praise
God they have the land and work is under way on the construction.
Liz has been quietly training some of the nationals on staff to take
over the administration and day to day running of the school in
preparation for her retirement.
Literally thousands of children have been impacted by the power of God during Liz's tenure in PNG.
Heather
Heather another long term missionary has been out for 18 years. She is
working in a sensitive nation and discretion is needed when discussing
her work.
During her time on the field she has completed a masters degree. A
trained nurse she has been involved in remedial surgery and this has
given her opportunity to minister spiritually to many people. She has
also spent time teaching and has been used in this ministry to lead a
number of people to Christ. She is still involved in discipling and
releasing people into ministry.
India As a church,we have been supporting a Bible institute in India for a
number of years.
This has seen a significant number of graduates go out
and plant cell groups and churches with a history of breakthrough into
the various castes.
It has been exciting to follow the progress of this
work in a nation just waiting to be released into the plan God has for
it.
About four years ago a group from Blenheim went over on outreach and as a
result have undertaken to financially support some of the leaders and a
number of building projects.

LIZ in PNG

Paul
Lupi returned recently from PNG having spent three weeks there in his
role as Project Manager for the building work. Praise God for His
faithfulness!
Paul told us that each dollar that has gone into the project has
‘performed’ three dollars worth of work. He was amazed at how it was
like God tripling the value of each dollar. God has been with the work
every step of the way.
Paul mentioned to us that when stepping on to the site the
presence of faith was very evident. God is in this; He will complete
it. Let us be a part of it.
Paul also reported that the vision is actually a lot bigger than Liz
received. Hers is a part of it but God has plans for a much larger
work, impacting the nation from end to end. We need to stand with Liz
in prayer for the larger picture. Let go and let God!!
Just prior to Paul leaving the upstairs of the first building was ready
for roofing and cladding. This will now be underway or completed.
The building itself is needing approximately
another $NZ50,000.00. We will be getting this to national missions to
take it to all Elim Churches.
Paul is working on a funding application to send to an agency in PNG
for funds to see the whole complex finished, please pray for:
God to
continue to open doors to all the resources needed.
People to come on
board with support. Personally supporting, through prayer and finances,
brings about an ownership of the work - there is a more meaningful
dimension to the partnership.
That Liz can 'see' and understand the larger vision and let go and trust
God to see it finished.
I
urge you to consider regular support for Liz and indeed our other
missionaries. This will be addressed in Church shortly, but please pray
about it. CPI
has raised about 8% in the last two to three years in PNG. Her support
has not! She needs more. Pray for strength and good health for her.
INDIA
Please pray that all the needs of the work in Kavitam will be supplied, along with more so that they could be an even bigger blessing to the peoples. Pray abundance.
Bhaskara Reddy has a need for 20 new leaders now and in the next five years – 30 plus. Can we be part of seeing that happen? Can we pray about it?
Pastor Tom had a phone call from Bhaskara recently and they have been baptizing people since our visit over the New Year. People are waiting to make that final decision.
Every preacher of the Word is chipping away at stubborn hearts, family faith, and fear of the unknown. God is at work. It
costs 1200 rupees monthly to train a leader, that includes books,
travel etc. In NZ dollars that is under $45.00 per trainee.
It is not a huge sacrifice –
two Makos games or one months training
a new jacket or one months training
one pair of Levis or two months training.
It’s sowing into the Kingdom. It’s worth it.
Please pray about your involvement. Uphold the team. Bhaskara, Prasad, their wives and the various overseers scattered around both East and West Godivari. It is such a diverse place; but one God is very keen to see as His.
HEATHER
We’ve had no recent news. She was in India around Christmas/New Year, so please pray that all seed sown will bear bountiful fruit. Uphold her for good health and a strong vision from God as to His plans for her in 2008.
Thank you all for your prayers and faithfulness.
