What is the Youth Internship?
This is a FREE leadership development programme that aims to raise up teenagers in Years 11-13 to be equipped in Christian leadership.
When does the internship happen?
The programme runs on a Thursday afternoon at the Elim Blenheim offices from 3:30pm-5:00pm during School term time during Term 1, 2 & 3. (Finishing before Term 4 so you can focus on study for NCEA exams)
The weekly Thursday programme will run as below:
15 minutes of leadership development from leaders like Pastor Tom Hatch, Pastor Amber Watson, Pastor Sam Kenny & more. These will be short and valuable lessons that you'll be able to apply in your leadership journey.
15 minutes of prayer. We want to spend time praying for you and for each other. Super special!
1 hour serving to support your chosen ministry area. Each ministry area will have different needs, but some of the tasks will include preparation for weekly programs (like cutting out resources, or contacting volunteers). There will also be responsibilities given to you such as preparing messages, planning challenges at camps etc. The best leadership learning happens when you practice it!
There are 3 ministry areas
that you can apply for:
Superkids
(Children’s ministry that runs during school holidays - this ministry includes Light Party)
Voltage
(Intermediate Aged ministry that runs on Friday Afternoons)
WORSHIP
(Youth ministry that runs on Sundays afternoons
& Friday Nights)
Is this Study?
Not really. There will be no "homework" or graded study. So there's no educational prerequisites. However, we recommend that everyone takes notes of what they learn in the leadership “classes”
We will encourage adding some new habits to your daily life to help you grow with Jesus and as a Christian leader.
What will I need to bring?
You will need to bring your school laptop as ministry tasks may use internet (Eg. Google Drive, Canva)
A journal (we will provide at the beginning)
A pen (we will also provide as needed, but bring your own too.)
Applications close
